Tom Swiderski

is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Education Policy Initiative at Carolina at UNC Chapel Hill. Tom’s research focuses on evaluating education policies that aim to affect high school students’ academic skills and transitions into and through college. He has published peer-reviewed academic journal articles on dual-enrollment and Early College High Schools and has written research briefs for state policymakers on several topics, including his ongoing research tracking the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and recovery efforts on secondary and postsecondary outcomes in North Carolina. Through his work, Tom hopes to help education policymakers and practitioners bring about a world in which all young people, regardless of their background, are provided the tools they need to thrive on their individual journey to adulthood. Tom earned a B.A. in psychology from Boston College, a Master’s in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from UNC Chapel Hill.
